Nagpur High Court as a full-fledged High Court was established at Nagpur, Maharashtra, on 9 January 1936.

In 1960, the Nagpur High Court was converted into a Bench of the Bombay High Court.

The strength of the Nagpur Bench of the High Court is 10 Honourable Judges. The total employees are 412.

There is also a Aurangabad Bench of the Bombay High Court.

  2. The matters/cases, wherein Apex Court had passed order for expeditious  hearing/ time bound hearing, be given priority. The matters of Senior Citizens would also be given priority.
  1. The Hon’ble Shri. Justice S.B. Shukre is appointed to hear and decide the matters under the Companies Act, 1956, and Companies Act, 2013 and Banking Regulation Act, 1949.

 

  1. The Hon’ble Shri Justice A.S. Chandurkar is appointed to hear and decide all matters under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996.
  1. Contempt Petition (Civil) will be taken up by the concerned Division Bench or Single Judge, as the case may be, before which the main matter is pending or before which the main matter would lie, if it were pending.

 

  1. In respect of all Part­heard matters, those shall cease to be Part­heard after change in assignment. However, in case, a proposal for hearing of Part­heard matters is forwarded by concerned Bench/ Court, on the parties making such request, such proposal will be placed before the Hon’ble the Acting Chief Justice. Only upon approval of such proposal by the Hon’ble the Acting Chief Justice, such matters, will be assigned to concerned Bench / Court.

It is hereby notified for the information of the Advocates and the parties appearing in person that in the event of nonavailability of any Court as also in the event of any Court passing an order for not placing the matter before the said Court and in the event of any Judge of the Division Bench passing such order and in respect of clubbing and placing of the matters pending before two
Courts at the Nagpur Bench at the request of parties-in-person or Advocates for clubbing and placing of such matters, the Hon’ble the Acting Chief Justice, has been pleased to approve following w.e.f. 20th August 2018:

A) The urgent mentioning and placing of the matters pertaining to the Division Bench presided over by Hon’ble Shri Justice B.P. Dharmadhikari is allowed before the Division Bench presided over by Hon’ble Shri Justice R.K. Deshpande.

B) The urgent mentioning and placing of the matters pertaining to the Division Bench presided over by Hon’ble Shri Justice R.K. Deshpande is allowed before thet Division Bench presided over by Hon’ble Shri. Justice P.N. Deshmukh and vice versa.

C) The urgent mentioning and placing of the matters pertaining to the Court presided over by Hon’ble Shri. Justice S.B. Shukre is allowed before the Court presided over by Hon’ble Shri Justice Z. A. Haq and vice versa.

D) The urgent mentioning and placing of the matters pertaining to the Court presided over by Hon’ble Shri. Justice A.S. Chandurkar is allowed before the Court presided over by Hon’ble Shri. Justice V.M. Deshpande and vice versa.

E) The urgent mentioning and placing of the matters pertaining to the Court presided over by Hon’ble Shri. Justice Nitin W. Sambre is allowed before the Court presided over by Hon’ble Shri Justice Rohit B. Deo and vice versa.

(i) This would also include the matters in which any Division Bench passes an order “not to place any particular matter before a bench of which one of the Judges is a member” or a Hon’ble Single Judge passes an order “not before me” or “remove from board”, etc.

(ii) The aforesaid directions shall be in force until the present assignment continues.

(iii) In the event of any difficulty in giving effect to the aforesaid general directions, the matter to be placed before the Hon’ble the Acting Chief Justice for seeking appropriate directions.

(iv) When a matter can not be taken up by any two Division Benches, as per this order, urgent mentioning and placing of the matter is allowed before the remaining Division Bench.

(v) Whenever the Courts pass an Order for clubbing and placing of the matters pending before two Courts at the Bench or parties-in-person or the Advocates request for clubbing and placing of such matters, office to obtain necessary direction on the administrative side from the
senio rmost Judge available at the Bench.
